Suede Chief – From the Bronx b/w Backspin to a Windmill (Bboysounds)

Geechi Suede (Camp Lo) and DJ CHiEF (Backyard Funk Crew, Bboysounds) return with two hot and bumpin’ bboy breaks joints on their third release under their new Suede Chief guise. From The Bronx leads the way and in just a few seconds, creates great anticipation of where it’s heading. A deep bassline and retro keys join battle-ready drums that set a searing pace for Geechi Suede to seamlessly switch between smooth soulful vocals and his razor-sharp raps that always bring the hype. Explicit lyrics can be found in this one, but a clean version does also feature on this release.

Backspin To A Windmill is the second track up for grabs and although a more downtempo approach has been taken compared to the first track, it’s no less intense! Simmering nicely at 119bpm, tough drums and looped horns take centre stage while Geechi’s vocals are this time used sparingly, but still to great effect. This may only be the third release from Suede Chief, but it’s pretty clear there has been an instant connection between them both that feels like it’s been there for years. Long may it continue and look forward to new music from them we always will.
