A couple of years ago, Breakbeat Paradise‘s bossman BadboE picked up a long-forgotten funky 45 and started turning it into a ghetto funk banger, but like so many other producers, it got sidelined so more new tunes could be made. After recently discovering his early workings and being suitably impressed by what he’d laid down, he set to work to finish what he’d started and the result is his shiny new ghetto funk banger Hard Times. Decked with vintage funk trimmings and samples, jazzy sax and the trademark ‘brasher than normal’ beats, BadboE’s meaty midtempo offering will make its presence felt wherever it turns up.
Joining BadboE on the release of his new single are SuckaSide, Baxsta & Boydex and Gramophone Soul with three excellent remixes between them. SuckaSide steps up first and strips things back to allow all of the funk of the original to flourish, while Baxsta & Boydex do the complete opposite and serve up the heaviest track out of the four with their fat and bassy remix that strays into the territory of Glitch Hop. Gramophone Soul brings things to a close in spectacular fashion with a high-octane funky house remix that’ll leave you wishing you’d warmed up before going all in!
