Funky Destination arrives on the ward via Greece’s excellent Timewarp Music imprint with a 5-track EP full of good times and funky breaks. Feeling Fly may well be the name of his new EP, but it’s also how you’ll be feeling by the time you’re done with it!
The first two tracks, Feeling Fly and Let The Spirit Heal, are a couple of cool cats. Both make great use of gospel and soul vocals as well as horns, funky guitars and smooth groovin’ basslines. Even though the first two tracks are lively little numbers in their own right, the next two tracks, So Damn Funky and Walking Together, will have the heart rate up to the point where you’ll soon need to burn off some of that energy! The drums smack that bit harder, the horns get hornier and the good vibrations of the bass reach deep into your soul. Our final destination, Flashback (Louie’s Kitchen), is an easy-going jam that helps the listener gently glide back down to earth after all of the hullabaloo created by the tracks gone before. A gentler tempo, softer vocals and a warming embrace from the brass make for an effortless departure.
