Having only shared Sonale’s excellent array of funky beats and pieces on an assortment of compilations in the past, it’s now time to shine the spotlight directly on the South African producer after the release of his heavyweight Ill Vibes EP on Breakbeat Paradise Recordings.
If you remember and miss the days when your Soundcloud feed was full of midtempo bangers, the O.G. ghetto funk vibes emanating from Soanle’s new EP are about to make your day! The title track of the EP kicks things off with horns, classic rap vocal cuts, heavy bass and a rowdy glitch-hop attitude. The uptempo and disco-tinged Keep It Funky is up next, and although a little fresher and smoother, it’s sure to put anyone in its path through their paces on the dancefloor. It’s back to some familiar midtempo whomp for the last two tracks. I Want You and You Got The Ruff both deliver tough drums and blistering bass, with the former sampling a classic funk cut and the latter sampling a true dance classic. Quite the quartet, especially with festive parties afoot!
