Roast Beatz heads back to his roots and digs deep into his vast music collection to bring together a selection of prime and juicy funk and hip-hop cuts for his mouth-watering Return Of The Funky Man mixtape.
Normally spending a chunk of his spare time pushing music by rostered artists on his Cuttin’ It Fine imprint, Roast Beatz made sure to take a timeout so he could hone in on tracks with a heavy funk flavour and positive energy to go on and make it the masterpiece that it is. Slicing and dicing, cutting and scratching, Roasty serves up re-edits of familiar and much-loved funk, soul, disco and hip-hop classics to make sure there’s a little something for everyone to tuck into and enjoy.
In between the release of his mix and me posting it, Roast Beatz dropped a new free remix of Big L’s late 90s classic – Flamboyant –. The story behind why the remix came about can be read over on Bandcamp, but what we can confirm is that his heavy remix warrants its place in your music collection, make no mistake about it!
