Plump DJs – Dreamland (Against The Grain)

2022 was one of the biggest years for broken-beat music in quite a while and one of our highlights of last year was the return of Against The Grain. The legendary Brighton-based breaks label, co-run by Skool Of Thought and Krafty Kuts, arrived back on the scene in April and quite literally picked up from where it had left off. Releases soon started rolling out from legends such as Plump DJs and label bosses Skool of Thought and Krafty Kuts, along with music from rising stars LOWCO and Matixx too.

Since we last caught up with Against The Grain, Krafty Kuts has released his new Breakin’ Boundaries EP series where he’ll be releasing new music that brings together all of the different styles of music that have moulded him into the formidable force he is today. Skool Of Thought has also released his new Together EP and on that, he dropped two peak-time breaks weapons of his own, one with Ed Solo and a filthy bass house remix from Phlegmatic Dogs.

Bringing things bang up to date and featured above, we have the brand new single from the legendary duo that kicked off Against The Grain’s comeback, Plump DJs. If you’ve seen them anywhere over the last few months, their new track is the one that’s caused you, your mates and everyone else on the dancefloor to lose your minds like you’ve never lost them before! Lifting the vocal from a drum and bass classic, they thread it through angelic synths and the signature bump and groove we know and love them for. It flew to number one on Beatport’s breakbeat chart, which comes as no surprise at all! On remix duties for Dreamland are Pirate Jams (breakbeat), Erb N Dub (drum and bass) and Dirty Supercar (disco house) and the reports I’ve read on those state that they’re doing some serious damage also.

There are plenty of top-level tunes to check out and the Beatport link is where you’ll find them all.
