Just over a year ago, Australia’s That’s Not An Edit collective reached out to their bros from across the Tasman Sea to see if they’d fancy setting up a New Zealand branch of TNAE. The invitation was gratefully received and accepted, and after assembling a crack team of funk, soul, disco, hip-hop, reggae and Latin-loving producers, That’s Not An Edit Vol.1 – NZ Edition soon followed with thirteen free tracks on board.
Fast forward to the present day, and the New Zealand collective is back with volume two of their compilation series. This time, there are eleven free tracks on board, and from what we’ve heard, they’re all deserving of a place in your collection. A few from the bunch of must-haves to look out for include AUDIT‘s low-slung and funk-heavy Strategy, DiCE‘s Latin-infused heater Back 2 Basics feat. House of Downtown, Mat Hoods‘ lively disco number 4 My People In Outer Space, Loneliest Hunk’s disco belter Gimmie More and Flex Webster‘s bumpin’ downtempo Esta & Lakim vs Soul II Soul mashup. Be sure to give the whole comp a listen because there are plenty more solid and quality edits where that lot came from!
