discObeta’s new ‘Down The Block’ EP lands on Breakbeat Paradise Recordings with two original Funk weapons from himself and five remixes from some household names of the Funky Breaks scene that includes Fort Knox Five, Ross Go, Mined & Forrest, BadboE and Pecoe.
Kicking things off is the title track of the EP and this low slung Breaks groover packs a hefty punch while bringing a classic vocal hook and smooth electro basslines that really dial up the groove! On remix duties for this one are Fort Knox Five who raise the bpm considerably but replace the intense boom of the original with a fresh funky vibe that’ll please the ears of anyone who gets in earshot of it. Ross Go is next to take on ‘Down The Block’ and he also opts for less thump and more of a funkier feel to his remix that sports an always welcome blast of brass.
discObeta’s second track ‘Yoobie Doobie’ is another meaty Hip Hop/Midtempo Breaks belter that once again bobs along at a beat down pace but makes its presence felt thanks to the smack of the drums, that damn funky bass and a lush lick of brass! Mined & Forrest are the first to take on ‘Yoobie Doobie’ and known for their Glitch Hop bangers, they apply a twist full of glitchy tweaks that makes for an intense ride. BBP founder and Funky Breaks legend BadboE steps up next with his remix that brings an old skool ghetto funk kick and razor-sharp synths and completing this epic offering of Funky Breaks is Pecoe. His remix is an uplifting and fresher take on the original that focuses more on the brass and the groove.
