DJ Vadim needs no introduction. But here’s one anyway. Known for mad skillz, complete versatility and a winning smile, he is a true mixologist and is cutting edge across hip hop, soul, funk, grime, reggae, dub, and bass. We’ve been banging his mix albums since the mid 90’s. The guy is a legend. A Ninja Tune STAR with over 2500 performances to brag about. Not that he would do that.

On the 18th August, the man is performing at Koko’s in London alongside DJ Format & The Simonsound, Mr Thing and Lazy Habits. The gig is going to be insane (and you can win 2 tickets for the show here) and we cannot wait. Hugo: You seem to be a man of hats. What is your favoured form of head gear?

Vadim: haha well spotted, i’m terrible with names but i like most hats, the funkier the better. from baseball, to flat caps to bowlers and panamas etc…

Hugo: If you could be one piece of percussion what would it be and why?

Vadim: the kick drum cos that’s the driving force of music

Hugo: Your new album is dropping in the autumn, any special collaborations or inside treats you can tell us about?

Hugo: What can the people attending Soundcrash expect from your set?

Vadim: fireworks, seismic tiltshifts, cosmic explorations – exploring the new F1 DJ System I’ve been given by Native Instruments – and the first peek at the new album set…

Hugo: As man explores and conquers more of space, what would do if you were the first contact with alien life?

Vadim: well funny u ask that cos the experts say within 5 years we will be able to have meaningful contact with dolphins, because they are deciphering their sound waves. as for aliens, if they came to earth i would ask – how does your planet look like? do u have lakes and mountains, and seas and animals and sea life, tees oxygen etc… when can i go play a show there?
