Big ups to Shotgun Radio for making “Jade” a FREE DOWNLOAD for Life Support Machine! Marcel’s surreal vocals matched with Greco’s dynamic basslines and grooves make this track almost reminiscent of something you’d expect to hear on a New Order record. +1.
The final of three guest posts from the residents of Bass[sic] is upon us. The new London night launches on Saturday 12th November at Cornershop, in Shoreditch. It’s gonna be mad like the words macrocephalous autohagiographer!.Get more info here! Give it up for NSB Radio top-jock and general all round Charlie Sheen endorsed “winner”, Hubie!
“Hello Life Supporters, Hubie here! There’s so much good tuna swimming about these days, it’s hard to narrow down a mere few for your lovely ears, but here goes! First up on a free download tip is a lovely little funk nugget by kiwi funkateer FunkFerret (clue: it is very funky). This is ideal for warming up a dancefloor or simply warming your cockles as the winter months draw in…”
“Second in to bat, and on a completely different, more ravetastic tip, is this cheeky little booty by my good friends Ruffick. It’s not been doing the rounds for long, but it’s already been causing quite a stir amongst the ravers and ruffneck crew…”
“Now for some more serious business. This is the latest release from our Bass[sic] headliner Peo de Pitte which I’m sure you’re gonna like. It’s been garnering massive support from the likes of 2 Many DJs, Plump DJs, Crookers and many more! It’s out now as part of U & A’s United & Anarchic Vol.4 release. Check out the clip below and buy it from Beatport now!”
“Finally, to help promote the launch of Bass[sic] this Saturday, here’s a promo mix from yours truly, exclusively for all you Life Supporters. This is yet another sample of the sorta stuff you can expect to hear on the night and I hope you enjoy it!”
In the run up to Bass[sic], a new electro-funky beats and bass night in London, we invited the residents to offer up for your entertainment, a selection of favourite free downloads and tunes that represent the sound of the event. What better way to sell it, eh? If your about Shoreditch on the 12th November, then check out the event details here.
Here, head honcho, Danny Reject gets busy with the fizzy. Check it.
“In the spirit of blogging we thought we’d highlight a couple of free tunes that are hitting the spot for us right now, plus one of our own freebies for some shameless self promotion. First up is an original track for us. On a ravey tip, this ones more than likely influenced by the amount of dancing around in fields we’ve done this summer. Our VJ, Psycho Monkey was on top form with the video…”
“Here’s a bootie from our good friend and all round legend Cut La Roc. Another corker from his refix collection! We’ve been badgering him for this for a while now and finally its here…”
“Next up is a top edit from the always on point DJ Absorb. An instant dance floor killer! This has been doing the business for us since we first got our hands on it…”
“To round things off we’d like to bring your attention a DJ mix from The101Connection. We’re lucky enough to be having him play at the Bass[sic] launch night along side Peo De Pitte on 12th November at The Cornershop in Shoreditch. If this is anything to go by we’re in for a top night…”
NSBRadio heroes, Danny Reject, Big Nick D and Hubie are launching an new Bass[sic] night on the 12th November in Shoreditch’s ‘Cornershop‘ venue. In the run up to this event, we invite each resident member of the club to share with us their guilty pleasures and provide an insight into the kind tunes to expect at the new night in our ‘What’s in the Box?!‘ series.
“Hello Life Supporters, thanks for having me. I’m going to kick off with a fantastically sexy subtle reworking of a Radiohead tune by Mike Hulme. Mike used to be called Introspective, back when he released tunes on one of my favourite labels ever, Sinister. As Mike says himself, “It’s not a club banger or a massive in-yer-face electro house version, as I feel that would be completely disrespectful to the essence of the original track.” I couldn’t agree more, this delicate reworking of Lotus Flower is deep, throbbing, rolling and in my house, stuck on repeat. It’s free to download too. Feel the vibe.”
“Now for something completely different. This is beatlessness in all its naked beauty. Monotonous drones and aural textures – as far from Life Support Machine’s ethos of electro funk and wonky bangers as you can get. There’s loads to download on his Soundcloud, all by a Finish fella called Jani Rantanen. It really is beautiful stuff so I recommend you make a cup of tea or roll a fat one and float away for a bit.”
“Next up is this mix I have done especially for LifeSupportMachine.co.uk. It includes a couple of the tracks I’ve been talking about and I think it shows what sort of stuff I like, from ambient, to house, to wonky breaks.”
“Finally, I’m going to steer you towards a cracking track that comes out in early November. It’s an awesome combination of guilty pleasure euphoria & gnarly tearout bass. It’s the unholy combination of Lunar Shift & Chevy One and it’s coming out on my label, Big Square Records.”
We have a treat for all the breakers out there! A bunch of kick-ass new freebies from B-Phreak. We even asked him if he’d say hi to you all and introduce the tracks himself… So hover to you Bernie…
“I got a selection of three mash-ups, including one exclusive, Lucky Amsterdamn, for the LSM free DJ music blog! This mash-up is now free for download for the first time. I’ve had many people ask me for this track, now it’s available to all through LifeSupportMachine.co.uk!”
“This is one of my favourites at the moment. I loved combining the percussive elements from seductive, the fat dubstep bassline from Bar 9 and the infectious vox snippets from Cheshire. This mashup just works every time I drop it in my sets!”
We invited Peo de Pitte to recommend his favourite bootleg bangers that get regularly rinsed! We tied him down and fed him Haribo Tangfastics while we rifled through his tunes and picked the CDs with the most scratches. Here’s what he had to say: “I wanted to do a tune recommendation rundown on my favourite blog, lifesupportmachine.co.uk…” (he really did say that…)
“Sometimes I think we all get a bit lost in that, everything in ones CD wallet needs to be unreleased or fresh from the shelf. This is of course one of the bad sides with the digital age of today… So I thought of recommending some free bootlegs from the last year which I still tend to reach for at my gigs, and they all do work very well! I promise!”
“These two guys usually go very well together and this is a banger. A bit of Alan Braxe and Fred Falke together with Katy Brown. Some say it’s a bit of cheese, I say that people go crazy when they hear that whoop-whoop-whoop sound!”
“This is pretty much the bootleg that put Angger Dimas on the map. I heard Style of Eye drop this at Ministry of Sound here in London last year and asked him – What the hell is this!”
“French again and we all know the chorus of this one. Once again, this get’s the crowd going crazy!”
“Finally I thought to mention something new and interesting I stumbled upon recently. Earth Moon Earth is a Californian-based group who just stole 3 classic tracks and reworked them with some lovely sounds. Never has Ting Tings, Goldfrapp and Empire of the Sun sounded so good!”
Heavy D – Nuttin But Luv [Hype Jones 2011 Remix]
“I love its silly, fidgety, squelchy basslines and dramatic, funky band stabs. This track is great for getting a crowd on side with its oldskool drop out in the middle. Can’t believe it’s only had 142 odd downloads on his SoundCloud player. Hype Jones has more free downloads on his soundcloud page, so check them out too.”
