Mike Hulme is no stranger to dance music, as Introspective he garnered the support of some of the biggest names in dance music such as James Zabiela and Paul Van Dyke. This remix of U&A label mate Zodiac Cartel’s ‘On My Mind’ is a driving, funky, and warped journey into the techy side of things. Perfect for late nights and warehouses.
Q’hey is one of the key individuals of Japan’s club scene. With determination, focus, hard work, he is one of Tokyo’s Techno milestones. He is an artist who delivers behind the decks as well as in the studio – get your ears around this techno remix for the legendary Orbital to see what the buzz is about – as deadly as a gang of ninjas!
The A-Team are bad boys of US breakbeat, Dj’s Rel1 and Frenzy. These two are on their A-game and bringing the business in the way of some serious heaters. They just dropped this edit of Dada Life’s Rolling Stone T shirt. I pitty the fool who doesn’t like these beats!
Andy P hails from San Francisco and is a mainstay in the EDM scene. He simply slays every dance floor he stands in front of, leaving the kids begging for more…sometimes he even plays music! He just dropped us this Moomba monster, contributing LSM writer and Breaks specialist Alex Sychosis liked it so much he did an edit of it!
Old school warehouse parties come to mind when you listen to this Jungle banger from T Power. Soulful vocals paired with a wompy bassline and a jumpy drumbeat makes for a groovy, bouncy number. Get out your camo and shake what ya mama gave ya.
FreQ Nasty has been dropping nasty, bass bombs since the nineties. On his latest release – Bon Merde on the HighChai imprint he is joined by some major heavyweights, including FS and Liquid Stranger, making for a face melting good time. He has kindly donated the FREE Knight Riderz Rave Fire Remix of the tune and DJ mix for you to get down to:
We were lucky enough to get an interview with the dreadlocked FreQuency technician to talk about music, tea, and aliens.
How do you describe what you do when meeting new people?
I stare intently into their forehead and try and read their mind looking for any hint of extra terrestrial intelligence, or a free cup of tea. Which ever comes first.
What are you obsessed with right now?
Meditation – which is kinda like being obsessed with obsession.
And extra terrestrials.
If you had a Tardis, where would you go?
Into the red wooden telephone box down the road, about 5 minutes into the future. You never know, it could be a Tardis !!!
When and where were you happiest?
Right now is pretty fucking good actually. And I’m kinda feeling ‘Here’ too. (See question 2). They key to happiness is to reminisce about the present. Especially if you have a good cup of tea on the go.
Where do you see Bass Music going in the next year?
I’m not sure what ‘Bass Music’ is right now, which is an awesome place to be. Is it DnB, Dubstep, Moombaton, Breaks or Complextro or ????. Everyone is riffing on every one else anyway, so the names don’t really matter so much anymore. If the past 18 months is anything to go by then we’ll see more exploration into underground micro genres (Juke, Bounce etc) and less divisions in terms of who should make what. Musical freedom for producers and fans alike!
Do you think the market is getting over saturated?
Ah, people have to pay for music in order to call it a market don’t they? :)
As far as music making goes, the more people making tunes the better: it just means more good ones. I’m chuffed that anyone can make music with out having to pay for a big hardware studio, and then release it globally with out a record deal. It opens up the talent pool and means we got a lot more surprising and amazing left field and underground records, and it gives pop music more source material to create great radio records from. It’s a win win all round.
The TekFreaks always have the perfect mix of electro bangerific beats mixed with just enough rock and roll edge. This track is a perfect example of their tried and tested party, rockin style. Classic 80’s rock mixed with bass heavy beats. Whip out the spandex, big hair and get glam on the dancefloor.
